A life truly lived.

Carson was our son, brother, cousin, grandchild, teammate, and best friend to many. We all miss Carson every day since that fateful day on the Big Island of Hawaii. The day after his 24th birthday Carson left this earth but his legacy, “why not?” thrives on with us.

A passion for running.

Carson started running at age 4 joining older brother Trenor and his Dad, Jason. His drive to compete was ignited. In middle school best friend Elliot Schultz and he started a YouTube channel featuring Go Pro videos the two would make. His passion for film and the camera took off from there. College years took him to SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Social Strategy and Management. He famously had a “Why Not?” tattoo on his left hand that personally was a reminder to turn your what ifs into remember whens by pursuing your Why Not? We all can relate to self doubt, sometimes fear, overthinking limiting us from pursuing that Why Not? Goal or accomplishment. Carson truly lived his life with this attitude, creating a legacy that is the reason for Why Not CP Foundation.

Carson was a lover of Track and Field, especially the middle distance events (800, 1500, 5000 meters). He not only Varsity lettered all 4 years in Cross Country and Track and Field at Ardrey Kell High school, but earned a scholarship to run for SCAD. He earned a spot at high school nationals in the 4×800 relay, he competed in nationals twice for Cross Country while at SCAD in 8k, and excelled in the long distance events too, including his first marathon in November 2023 finishing 12th overall with a 2:47:48 in Charlotte North Carolina. At a young age he enjoyed family trips to Charleston South Carolina running the Cooper Bridge Run and beating his dad on his second try with a sub 38 minute 10k time as a young teenager.

He was an avid student of the sport always keeping up with the professional runners and even able to watch the 2012 London Olympics track and field live. Quite possibly his favorite was attending the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene Oregon watching his favorite runners.

I can’t do that…

I can’t be that…

It’s not going to work…

I don’t think it’s going to be enough…

I’m not good enough…

I didn’t do that…

I’m not going to go…

I won’t be able to…

I shouldn’t…

These are some of the doubts, fears, and excuses constantly running through my head. Excuses for living the one life I’ve been blessed with in fear. Fear of failure, rejection, disappointment, and so much more. But life isn’t meant to be feared. It might sound cheesy, but life is really just an empty book being filled, every single day, one page at a time. I don’t want my book to be predictable, boring, and safe. It’s all about perspective. An obstacle is only an obstacle because you made it that way. See it as an opportunity and it becomes a lot more beautiful. I want to always remind myself of this. A reminder that eliminates the demons in my head that tell me that I shouldn’t or that I can’t. F#%K it.
