DC Half Marathon • 2:24:30

Proud to share my “why not?” moment in honor of my friend, Carson. It was an emotional day, especially connecting with Hanna at the finish, but what really got me was seeing my finish time.

Losing Carson the day after his 24th, I chose 24 as my lucky number while training this summer. Anytime I was having a hard time I pushed myself to go an extra 0.24mi, 2.4mi, 24min, etc. Truthfully when I finished I was just so happy I had made it, so it wasn’t until Trenor texted me that I finished at 2:24 that I realized I finished on the 24 minute mark. I fully believe he was there with me cheering me on. Felt like I could hear him yelling “let’s gooooo!”

This definitely won’t be the last of my races, and I’ll keep pushing myself to run that extra 2.4mi or maybe one day 24mi 😉 why not, right?

(Side note- HUGE thanks to everyone who sent well wishes and for those who came to support me! I thought about you all while I ran and feel so grateful to have such a great support system!!)
